The speed limit warning mechanism has a roadside speed detector (2) measuring the speed of a car (3). The road may be a motorway or low traffic road. The speed measurer is connected to a large display panel (7) above the road easily visible to the driver. The display panel shows the driver's speed, and below the speed is a message, designed to make the driver think about the effects of the excessive speed he is travelling at.
