The automobile heat exchanger comprises a multiplicity of tubes (4) passing through aligned holes (2) in fins (1). The tubes are radially expanded so as to make a mechanical assembly with the fins. The electro-welded tubes have an oval transverse section and have a welding cord (5) joining two edges of a metal band. The oval section of each of the tubes has two large opposite radii, two small opposite radii, a large axis and a small axis. The welding cord is located on one of the large radii of the tube section at its intersection with the small axis.
