Separating and recovering organic compounds from a flow of air, especially for recovering low b. pt. solvents present in low concentration in industrial ventilation air, comprises passing the air through a fluidised bed (7) in a first adsorber (2) that contains at least one adsorption material for adsorbing at least one of the organic compounds, even if it is present in a low concentration. Organic compounds are then recovered from the adsorption material by desorption. The adsorption material is progressively removed from the adsorber and supplied to at least one fluidised bed (10) in a first desorber (9). Regenerated adsorption material is then returned to the first adsorber. A flow of pair passing through the desorber at a rate less than the flow through the adsorber is used to create the fluidised bed. Air from the first desorber is supplied to one or more fluidised beds (15) in a second desorber (14) comprising a different type of adsorption material that can adsorb relatively high concentrations of organic compound compared with the adsorption material in the adsorber. Organic compounds are then separated and collected in a recovery desorber (16). Also claimed is the apparatus for use in the above process. |
