In a process for surface treating special steel (especially in strip form) by pickling and rinsing, the pickling solution contains hydrochloric acid as the sole acid and is applied by spraying. Preferably, the steel is electrolytically treated and optionally immersion treated prior to spray treatment. The pickling solution preferably contains 70-140 g/l free hydrochloric acid and is used at 50-90 degrees C. |
