The implant comprises a stem (10) for introduction into a hole (12) in the jaw bone and is cemented in place using a cement (20). The stem, in this position, has a first end (10c) arranged in the hole and a second end protruding from it. The stem has longitudinal grooves (22,24,26) which extend from a lower end (22a) adjacent the first end, to an upper end which is outside the hole when the implant is sealed within the bone. The lower ends of the grooves are closed.
