PURPOSE:To evade the display of an incomplete picture by writing a graphic code in a memory when a recording medium is played and when an end code is detected, notifying the presence of the graphic code and forming picture signals corresponding to the graphic code in accordance with a command. CONSTITUTION:A caption, musical score, or scene explaining sentence is inserted by using a sub-code into a moving picture obtained by video format signals recorded in a video area or a still picture obtained by a video memory. When the terminating end of a picture processing instruction group forming a picture over the whole area of a screen is detected thereafter, presence of picture signals by means of the sub-code is notified, but picture data read-out from a picture memory device 55 are not given to a CPU 58 and TCT 66 until a picture display by means of the sub-code is commanded through a key operation. Therefore, picture signals corresponding to a written graphic code is never formed before a series of picture information is written in the memory. |
