471,954. Flexible tubes. FREUDENBERG GES., C. Aug. 8, 1936, No. 21896. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1935. Addition to 460,606. [Class 99 (ii)] The mechanical strength of flexible tubes, impervious to organic solvents, e.g. motor fuels, which are produced from collagenous fibrous material as described in the parent Specification, is increased by one or more layers of a reinforcing material such as woven fabric, cellulose derivative in sheet form, rubber, &c. and/or helically-coiled wire. The collagenous material is preferably drawn in the form of a tube or wound in the form of a band or flat tube over a tube of the reinforcing material and/or wire helix, the resulting tube being covered, if desired, with further alternate layers of reinforcing and collagenous material. Adhesion of the several layers is effected by the application of glue, gelatine &c. or of heat and pressure. The tubes are preferably hardened and treated with water-insoluble softeners.
