PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM switch possible for flexible configuration in the case of containing a low speed channel and a high speed channel in order to solve problems that a device is made large because the provision of an exclusive interface for containing a high speed channel is required and that a limited configuration of the device because an interface is not shared in common for a low speed channel and the high speed channel in a conventional switch. SOLUTION: The ATM switch 1 has line connection sections 2, 4 and a switch section 3 configured as separate modules and is provided with an interface 6 through which cells and additional information among the modules are transferred and the one interface 6 contains one low speed channel. In the case of containing a high speed channel, the low speed interface 6 covering N channels is used and a high speed channel is contained by allowing the switch section 3 to handle the low speed interface 6 by N channels as one high speed interface channel.
