摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical semiconductor module having a wide adjustable range of a ferrule for holding an optical fiber and a small external shape size in such a manner that the optimum adjustment of the optical coupling position of the optical axis of an optical semiconductor element is made possible. SOLUTION: A cap 3 holding a lens 6 is mounted at a receptacle system 2 to be mounted with the optical semiconductor element 1 and is further coated with a holder 7. Two pieces of sliding rings 91 , 92 are superposed atop the holder. The first sliding ring 91 holds the ferrule 5 integral with the optical fiber 4 and the second sliding ring 92 has an opening of half the transverse direction adjusting range a of the ferrule having a diameter f. The min. external shape of the holder 7 is expressed by w=2a+f which is about two-third the external shape of the holder formed by using one piece of the conventional sliding ring. The adjusting range is expressed by formula a=(w-≃)÷2 and is 1.5 times the conventional adjusting range.
