The apparatus includes several punctiform light sources and a holder. The sources are formed by LEDs, each radiating light in a preferred direction. The LEDs are held in a preset spatial arrangement by a holder, which secures that at least two LEDs radiate the light in different directions. An optical device changes the characteristic of the light radiated by the LEDs. It contains a light directioning device for the LED light, using preferably reflection for light directioning in a preset direction. The optical device may comprise a mixer for mixing the colour of the radiated light by diffuse transmission.
