2The soil hardening and stabilisation equipment is designed to combat subsidence of railway lines. A vehicle (1) runs on the railway line (2) and carries a drilling machine (4) near one end. A large diameter borehole (9) is formed, followed by a smaller diameter borehole (5) at a deeper level. The drilling device (10) may have a hydraulic drive (11). When a borehole is finished, the vehicle may be moved forward until an injection lance (14) may be inserted in the borehole, and a new borehole is started further down the track. The boreholes may extend into a soft, hydraulically unbound layer of ground (15,16) and grout or soil-hardening material (19) may be injected at different levels.
