PURPOSE:To effectively utilize recording paper without wasting the recording paper even when a recording position is separate from a detection means, by providing a memory means for storing the detection result of a near end mark and detecting the presence of a recording sheet before recording is started on the basis of the memory content of the memory means. CONSTITUTION:For judgement of the presence of recording paper, judgement is not performed when the recording paper is present at a recording position betaand the recording paper is returned to a preparatory feed position alpha1 or alpha2 to judge the outputs of sensors 3a, 3b. The output states of the sensors 3a, 3b at this time are transmitted to an MPU 21 through an input port 13 and the MPU 2 respectively stores said output states in the registers 23a, 23b provided to an RAM 23 and judges the presence of the recording paper on the basis of the memory contents of said registers. Therefore, the recording paper is not wasted by the distance, that is, L2 between the sensors and the recording position and can be effectively utilized. |
