PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of dust entering from the front edge and to increase the operating reliability of a storage unit by making the distance of the surface of a land part confronted with the magnetic disk against the magnetic disk shorter than that of the upstream side of rotation of an element part. SOLUTION: On the surface of the magnetic head 20 confronted with the magnetic disk, two tapered flat floating surfaces having entirely the same shapes are provided at the inner and outer peripheral sides. On each flow-out side surface of the confronted surface, magnetic materials 30 of the thin film magnetic head are formed and one of them is actually used for the information recording and reproducing operations. The space for the front edge of the tapered parts 26 of the head 20 against the magnetic disk is approximately 4μm, meanwhile, the space to the land parts 130 on the magnetic head is 0.1μm. Therefore, only the dust passing through the part of space 0.1μm against the magnetic disk is caught by the tapered parts 26.
