PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the drying of a nozzle from occurring at a time of the supply of a cut sheet and to efficiently execute printing operation by improving throughput in an ink jet printer applying printing to the cut sheet. SOLUTION: A carriage 4 is moved along a moving route going through a printing region A due to an ink jet head 2, a capping region (K, HP, R) holding the ink jet head to a capping state and a cut sheet supply position (HP). The capping region and the supply position are positioned on the same side as the printing region A. The position in the capping region is the supply position and, at a time of the supply of a cut sheet, the nozzles of the ink jet head are held to the capping state. |
