PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly start a brushless motor by using both synchronous operation and position detecting operation in combination thereby inhibiting a current during synchronous pull-in (when beginning the start) and suppressing vibration without lowering operation efficiency (efficiency of rotation). SOLUTION: A controller of a brushless motor outputs a position detection signal from a position detection circuit 8 to a control circuit 10. A control circuit 19 outputs a signal for driving an inverter section 3 based on a position detection signal to a drive circuit 7 and controls the inverter section 3, switches the DC power supply at the inverter section 3 and applies it to a brushless motor 4. The control circuit 10 positions the rotor of the brushless motor 4 to a particular phase when starting the brushless motor 4, after this, performs hybrid starting using both the synchronous operation and position detecting operation in combination. In this hybrid starting, position detection is masked for a predetermined time period after conduction switching and then the optimum starting is made possible. |
