摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent excess amplification energy from being stored inside an optical amplifier by providing an optical burst signal generating circuit and a control optical signal generating circuit and multiplexing an optical burst signal and a control optical signal and sending the multiplexed signal to an optical transmission line. SOLUTION: Electric burst signals outputted in a prescribed timing from electric burst signal circuits 11-1-11-N is respectively given to corresponding optical burst signal generating circuits 12-1-12-N, in which each of the signals is converted into an optical burst signal. On the other hand, a control optical signal generating circuit 13 outputs a control optical signal in a timing where no optical burst signal is sent under the control of the circuits 11-1-11-N. Each optical burst signal and the control optical signal are given to an optical synthesis circuit 14, in which the signals are subjected to time division multiplex and the resulting signal is sent to a broad band fiber network 54. The control optical signal is inserted to a time slot where no optical burst signal is in existence and given to an optical amplifier 55 in the network 54, then storage of excess amplification energy in the inside of the optical amplifier is prevented and production of an optical surge is avoided.
