PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the invasion of virus into a main body system such as a main memory by starting a virus retrieval program stored in a flash ROM, reading out a software module to a dedicated work memory and executing virus retrieval. SOLUTION: A flash ROM 1 stores a program for system start and a program for virus retrieval. A code existent in the flash ROM 1 is fetched and executed by a CPU 2. In this case, one part or the entire part of the software module to retrieve the virus is stored in a work memory 3 and a virus pattern file stored in the flash ROM 1 is compared with the data pattern of the software module to retrieve the virus so that the presence/absence of virus can be checked. Then, since a dedicated memory is used as a work area for executing the virus check and the program for virus retrieval is fetched by the flash ROM 1, it is not infected by the computer virus. |
