PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the setting of non-communicable VC (connection to the address of opposed MAC(medium access control)) setting VC after confirming that a receiving terminal is communicable. SOLUTION: ATM(asynchronous transferring mode)-LAN(local area network) 11 is provided with an ARP server 21 deciding an ATM address from an address except for the ATM address. The ARP server 21 holds an ATM address managing table 22. Terminals 23 and 24 connected to ATM-LAN 11 hold connection management tables 26, 27, and a repeater 28 holds a connection management table 29. Then a transmission terminal or the repeater transmits the address except for the ATM address of a communication opposite side to the ARP server 21, which returns the response of address solution to the terminal or the repeater of the transmission opposite side if the ATM address of the opposite side is known.
