The column (1) merges into a hollow profiled threshold member at the bottom. Integral reinforcement (3) is provided at this point, having a section (5) shutting off the column (1) and two other sill sections (4) spaced apart and shutting off the threshold member. The first section stiffens the column in the transverse direction, while the others stiffen the threshold member (2) level with the column at right angles to the member axis. The three reinforcing sections can be in one piece and of sheet-metal. It can be flush with the column and member walls.
