Drive arrangement for water-borne vehicles, esp. dredgers or suction dredgers

The arrangement has a means of delivering electrical current to a fixed point close to the water course on which the vehicle is operating or a means of generating current at the fixed point. An electric cable leads from the fixed point to the vehicle. A transformer (8) converts the current at the fixed point into a high voltage. The cable is a high voltage cable (10) and the vehicle (1) carries a transformer which transforms the voltage to a lower desired voltage level.
