509,153. Air preheaters. AKTIEBOLAGET GOTAVERKEN. Jan. 11, 1938, No. 932. Convention date, Jan. 12, 1937. [Classes 64 (i) and 64 (iii)] An air preheater in a boiler flue comprises nests of tubes 18, 19 through which the air flows across the flue gases at least twice, the number, size and spacing of the tubes being such that the velocity of the air through the heater is at least 50 per cent greater than the velocity of the gases. The tubes are spaced to give a minimum gas passage area of about 2À25 or 2À75 times the area of the total air passage. A division plate 25 in a chamber 21 connecting upper and lower groups of tubes ensures the equal distribution of the air to the tubes, |
