PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having a strong bone absorption-inhibiting action, high in strength and selectivity and useful as an osteoporosis-treating medicine and/or a hypercalcemia-treating medicine from the culture solution of a strain belonging to the genus Streptomyces. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula A-75943. The compound has the following physicochemical properties. The property of the substance: a colorless foamy substance; optical rotation: [α]D<25> -2.7 deg. (C 0.52, in chloroform); molecular formula: C15 H23 NO4 (measured by high resolution FAB-mass spectrometry); molecular weight: 281 (measured by FAB-mass spectrometry); UV light absorption spectrum (in ethanol): only the absorption of the end); solubility: soluble in methanol, ethanol, ether, ethyl acetate, etc.: insoluble in hexane, water; etc. The compound of the formula is obtained by culturing Streptomyces SP SANK 61296 (FERM BP-5505), and subsequently recovering the compound of the formula from the culture product. |
