PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slug rising preventing die and the its method where a slug rising is prevented and the generation of a defective product can be reduced on the result. SOLUTION: In a punching die to produce a lead frame, this die is a slug rising preventing die composed of a die 4 where a local part of the die inside face 6 is grooved by pressing a grinding wheel 6 onto the inside face and it is finished in a roughness having a recessing and projecting shape by upheaving the circumference of the groove. Further, in the time of grooving on the die 4, this die is the slug rising preventing die which is formed with the grinding wheel of the top end curvature of radius R being <=0.1mm, and more in the time of grooving on the die 4, it is formed by grinding with the grinding wheel whose pressing amount onto the inside face of die is made >=3μm.
