The storage device is designed so that the work ends (14) of the bits (13) and the socket head (21) of the chuck (20) are exposed on the outside in the closed state of the case. The case can comprise a first and second housing part. The second housing part has a free space (F) open towards both wide sides to hold the swivel beam (4) of the first housing part. A complementary free space (F') of the second housing part adjoins the mouth openings of the pockets (11) to hold the work ends and is open towards the front wide side (S).
