The invention relates to a hydraulic dual circuit brake system with means for active braking in an economical manner, with pre-loading means or means for preliminary filling of the wheel brakes, the pressure source (3) of a hydraulic booster (2) being used as a separate pressure source. The connection line between the separate pressure source (3) and two cylinder-separating-piston arrangements (6, 6') which distribute the pre-load pressure to the braking circuit can be blocked by a valve arrangement (4). A plurality of embodiments are provided for said valve arrangement (4).
