[Classes 52 (iii) and 52 (v)] A stand such as for an electric light comprises a flexible pedestal constructed by a series of tubes connected together by ball and socket joints and a spring inserted in the tubes and abutting against abutments in the end tubes. One end of each tube 1 is provided with a spherical enlargement 2 while the other end is formed in a series of flaps 3 shaped to co-act with the spherical enlargement of the adjacent tube. Slots are formed between the flaps and into one of these slots a projection on the interior 'face of the enlargement may enter to prevent relative rotation of the tubes. A spring 8 is arranged to abut against abutment faces 9, 10 as shown and the spring may be of decreasing stiffness. As a bracket the tubes 1 may be horizontal and arranged in a tube 13 mounted in a holder 14 by means of a spring 18 and a pin and slot 19. The bracket may be arranged as a lamp or as a holder for a hose for a tool cutting machine. |
