摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new subject gene capable of coding a xylose metabolic system enzyme such as a xylulokinase, etc., having a specific amino acid sequence, facilitating a xylose fermentation by all kinds of Tetragenococcus harophilus and useful for brewing of a soy source. SOLUTION: This gene is a new one capable of coding an amino acid sequence causing enzymatic activities of a xylose metabolic system comprising a xylulokinase substantially having an amino acid sequence of formula I and/or a xylose porter substantially having an amino acid sequence of formula II, facilitates a xylose fermentation by all kinds of Tetragenococcus harophilus and is extremely useful for a brewing of a soy source, a fermentation of cereals, a pentose fermentation used for the production of a biomass, etc. The gene is obtained by isolating the chromosomal DNA from Tetragenococcus harophilus I strain (FERM BP-1302) by a conventional method, preparing a library and further screening by a probe comprising a part of xylose metabolic system gene.
