PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the preparation of an encapsulating giant fullerene using various fine particles in a relatively simple step without passing through a separating step, etc., and realize the control, etc., over the shape and encapsulating form of the encapsulating giant fullerene. SOLUTION: This ultrafine particle-encapsulating giant fullerene 5 comprises an ultrafine particle 2 arranged on an amorphous carbon 1 and a giant fullerene 4 formed by using the ultrafine particle 2 as a nucleating substance by irradiating the periphery of the ultrafine particle 2 with a high-energy beam 3. The ultrafine particle 2 is sterically encapsulated in the giant fullerene 4 having carbon atoms fed by irradiation of the high-energy beam 3 as at least a part of constituent atoms thereof. |
