<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate cutting and make operation efficient by bringing a rotary cutting blade into contact so that its surface slants at a specific angle to the axis of a cable terminal to be cut. SOLUTION: The surface of the rotary cutting blade 14 is applied to the slot coating end of a slot type optical fiber cable so that the axis of rotation slightly bends and the angle of contact between the cutting blade 14 and cable is 45-60 deg.. When a handle 16 is gripped and a driving shaft is rotated, the cutting blade 14 rotates on its axis and revolves around the peripheral surface of the cable to cut the slot coating. The slot coating is cut sequentially by pressing the cutting tool along the axis of the cable as the cutting advances; when the cable is cut within a desired range, the slot coating 22 is cut in a tapered shape from a part adjacent to the remaining slot coating after the slot coating 22 is cut and the major part forms an extremely thin remaining coating layer, thereby obtaining what is called a funnel shape.</p> |
