PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce load of a worker by opposedly arranging a vibration generator and a detector for detecting vibration from the generator in a sample submerged in a rubber container and applying a freezing and thawing cycle. SOLUTION: A vibration generator A and a detector B for receiving the vibration from the generator B are arranged opposing each other in a sample (a) submerged in a rubber container 1. The rubber container 1 is arranged still in brine liquid in a test tank and a freezing and thawing cycle is added thereon, so as to find a vibration damping rate. Namely, the freezing and thawing cycle is applied on the sample (a) in the test tank in such a state as being submerged in the rubber container 1 and stopped at a point reaching a prescribed cycle. Then, the vibration is generated from the generator A and the vibration propagated via the sample (a) is received by the detector B, so that the vibration damping rate is measured. Young's modulus is calculated thereby, and this operation is repeated for a prescribed number of times, so that highly reliable Young's modulus can be found. |
