PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flaw detector for a thin metallic plate, that can enhance the accuracy of detecting defects, etc., by restraining fluctuation of the incidence angle of an ultrasonic wave on the thin metallic plate. SOLUTION: A vibrator 5 is placed in a slanted position inside a rubber tire 3 filled with a tire filler. A pair of auxiliary wheels 7, 8 made of hard rubber are placed on both sides of the rubber tire 3, and the rubber tire 3 and the auxiliary wheels 7, 8 are coaxialy and freely rotationally secured to a support part 9 via a pivot 9a. The rubber tire 3, the vibrator 5, the auxilariy wheels 7, 8 and the support part 9 constitute a tire probe 11. Since the rubber tire 3 is supported by the auxiliary wheels 7, 8 from both sides, the incidenace angle of an ultrasonic beam 37 which the vibrator 5 emits does not fluctuate. Also, since the vibrator 5 emits the ultrasonic beam 37 in the diagonally forward direction, a plate wave 33 can be produced, without being affected by the auxilairy wheel 8. |
