The cover is for a vessel containing a non-corrosive medium under pressure, particularly liquefied gas, there being a sealing joint between them. The cover (8, 9), and the opening it shuts off, are both circular. It is of larger diameter than the opening, its largest-diameter portion being on the inside of the smallest diameter portion of the opening in the shut position. There can be a truncated-cone contact face between it and the vessel (1, 2), and whose angle is such that there is no self-locking effect between them. ADVANTAGE - The fixing device for the cover needs only to support its weight, little prestressing of the joint being required. |
