PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable controlling light quantity to be transmitted, etc., by stimulation from the outside. SOLUTION: The optical fiber is constituted of a core part 1 consisting of a polymer liquid crystal and a clad part 2 consisting of a material having refractive index lower than that of the polymer liquid crystal. As the polymer liquid crystal composing the core part 1, the polymer liquid crystal changing in light scattering property by heating is used. An optical element is provided with the optical fiber which is constituted of the core part consisting of the polymer liquid crystal changing the light scattering property by heating and the clad part consisting of the material having refractive index lower than that of the polymer liquid crystal and an exothermic body. |
