Disclosed is a VISS search method using double index marks. The method includes a program recording step which is formed of a process to insert an index mark when starts a recording and another process to insert an index mark when finishes the recording, an input step which receives a set value of an index and a specification of the VISS operation, a search step which searches the index mark until the set value input from the input step, and a VISS operation step which performs the VISS operation according to the specification input from the input step. Thus, the inconvenience that an user has to search a program recorded on a tape can be solved.
