Automatic core insertion equipment for sand moulding machines with a lower (11) and upper (12) mould box and a pattern plate arrangement (14,15) attached to a pattern plate carrier (13) between, comprising an insertion die (21) corresponding to the lower mould contour and a receiver die (23) corresponding to the upper mould contour, which is preferably fixed to the pattern plate carrier (13). After laying the core (K) in the insertion die (21) it is raised to the receiver die (23), held there by an applied vacuum and transferred to a position above the meanwhile prepared lower mould (11), which is raised to the receiver die (23) and the core (K) is placed in the lower mould (11) by release of the vacuum, assisted by air pressure if required.
