The machine comprises a die (25) which is moved along a vertical axis (M) by control devices (54,52,56) from its initial position with the die lined up with the plane of the worktable top face into a working position where the top face of the die lies in a plane above that of the worktable. The controls twist the die round axis (M) each time the associated punch tool group is in the working position. The die holder (26) consists of a first tube (27) coaxial with the axis (M) and a second tube (28) lying coaxially and adjustably above the first. The die is co-rotatably joined to and held in the second tube and a third tube part (52) below the first has its own drive to move it from its initial setting separate from the tube into a working position in which tube is co-rotatably connected to tube (27) round axis.
