Pressure housing and stroke extension for slave cylinder on automotive clutch

A hydraulic cylinder (1) for an automotive friction clutch has a pressure-resistant cast metal cylinder (3) which is concentric with a drive shaft (9) linking an engine to a manual gear box (2). The gearbox housing may be detached. The pressure-resistant housing has a longitudinal drill hole (4) with a sleeve-guide (7) and forming a circular pressurised chamber (14) through which a piston (5) moves and varies the pressurised zone. The sleeve-guide may be located against the pressurised gear box housing face (13) by a flange (8) at one end. The gearbox end of the cylinder may have an overhanging axial projection (11) near the longitudinal drill hole extending the piston stroke.
