A novel water-dispersible mixture (preferably a flowable powder) comprises: (A) a non-functionalised polyolefin wax of average particle size 1-50 mu and acid number below 5mg/g; and (B) a minor amount of a hydrophilic dispersant comprising a glyceride of mainly a mono-or poly-ethylenically unsaturated 16-22C monocarboxylic acid, the glyceride being alkoxylated with 1-50 mol. 2-4C alkylene oxide and optionally also containing additional OH groups. Also claimed is that the mixture is obtained by mixing (A) and (B) with no added water while avoiding heating to the melting point of (A). Preferably mixing is at room temperature with (B) in an amount (especially 3-30 pts. wt. per 100 pts. wt. (A) + (B)) insufficient to cause coagulation of the (A) particles in the aqueous dispersions. Upto 5 wt.% (based on (A) + (B)) of additives such as foam suppressors, thickeners, biocides and/or additional dispersants can be present. (B) is mainly in fluid form and is a 5-15 mol. ethoxylated castor oil.
|
