A brief has a front panel and a rear panel, each substantially in the form of an inverted triangle having two upper, waist side vertices and a lower crotch side vertex. The two upper vertex define therebetween an upper edge of the respective panel to define the waist openings to which an elastic waistband may be mounted. The lower vertex defines a converging side with each of the upper vertices to define a leg opening. Each of the vertices has an engaging area on each of the panels to which a releasable fastener is provided to releasably fix the front panel to the rear panel at the vertices so as to allow a wearer to put on the brief without bowing or squatting or standing in one leg.
