摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain sufficient photocatalytic action irrespective of the transparency of a material to be treated by arranging a photocatalyst on the surface of optical waveguide paths, also providing a light source for introducing light from one end of the optical waveguide paths and bringing the photocatalyst into contact with the material to be treated. SOLUTION: A storage tank 1 for storing solution and a treating tank 3 are made to communicate with each other through a first and a second flow passage. Inside the treating tank 3, plural optical waveguide paths 5 consisting of boro-silicated glass, quartz or the like, converging lenses 8 each made of Pyrex glass or the like and corresponding to the optical waveguide paths 5, a light source 6 consisting of a xenon lamp, a mercury lamp or the like, and a reflecting plate 7 are housed. The position of an overflow port 4 of the second flow passage is set so that the light source 6, the reflecting plate 7 and the converging lenses 8 may not be immersed in the solution. By turning on the light source 6, a photocatalyst arranged on the surface of the optical waveguide paths 5 is irradiated with sufficient light to obtain photocatalytic action and implement oxidation-reduction action, thus the deodorizing, sterilization, and virus inactivation of the solution is attained.
