1343470 Phosphorus arsenic and antimony complexes containing metals SNAM PROGETTI SpA 8 Oct 1971 [13 Oct 1970] 47065/71 Heading C1A [Also in Division C2] Complexes of formula I where M is a Group VIII metal, L is phosphine, stibine or arsine, or an optionally halogenated alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl derivative thereof and n is 2, 3 or 4, may be prepared by (a) dehydrogenating a hydride of a complex of the Group VIII metal and the complexing agent L by reaction with a hydrogen acceptor, (b) reacting a hydride of the Group VIII metal, which is optionally complexed with a complexing agent other than L, with a complexing agent L and a hydrogen acceptor. In process (a) the starting complex may be prepared by reacting L with (i) a hydride of the Group VIII metal, (ii) a complex of a hydride of the Group VIII metal with a complexing agent other than L or (iii) a complex of an inorganic salt of M, which is optionally a partial hydride, and a hydride. In process (b) the Group VIII metal starting material may be prepared by reacting a hydride with an inorganic salt of the metal or with a complex of such a salt with a complexing agent other than L. The hydrogen acceptor may be an olefin of formula III where R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen, alkyl or aryl. |
