Disclosed is a method to control bidirectional path of point-to-point separation within a full dispersion ATM exchanger. The method comprises 6 step. In the first step(1 to the extent of 4), a transmitting ALS searches a transmitting(Tx) link, extracts and transmits a connection path information to a receiving side. In the second step(5 to the extent of 12, 8'), a receiving ALS searches a receiving link, extracts and transmits a connection path information. In the third step(13 to the extent of 17), the transmitting ALS sequentially files and transmits information of the forward direction path. In the fourth step(18 to the extent of 21), the receiving ALS extracts and transmits information of a reverse direction path to the transmitting side. In the fifth step(22 to the extent of 29, 25'), the transmitting ALS extracts and transmits information of a reverse direction path to the receiving side. In the sixth step(30 to the extent of 33), the receiving ALS sequentially files and transmits information of the reverse direction path. Thereby, the bidirectional path of point-to-point separation can be effectively controlled.
