Water-soluble fire retardant composition for protecting wood against insects and fungi

Water-soluble composition which protects wood and wood products against insects and fungi and also acts as a flameproofing agent comprises: (a) 20-80 (especially 30-50) wt.% of an inorganic phosphorus compound; (b) 5-40 (especially 12-30) wt.% of an inorganic boron compound; (c) 5-40 (especially 12-30) wt.% of an organic nitrogen compound; and (d) 5-40 (especially 10-25) wt. % of a carbon compound. The composition also contains the usual additives such as wetting agents, corrosion inhibitors and anti-blooming agents.
