LIQUID CRYSTAL ALIGNING AGENT

A liquid crystal aligning agent comprising two or more polymers selected from the group consisting of polyamic acids and imidated polymers having structures prepared by dehydration and ring closure of polyamic acids. In the above two or more polymers, the larger the degree of imidation of the polymer, the smaller the surface free energy of the polymer. This aligning agent is less likely to cause an afterimage in a liquid crystal display device and has a high pretilt angle.
