<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite material composition which can be cured in a short time by a safe, easy and simple method, by using as the constituents a polymerizable unsaturated compound, a fibrous reinforcing material and/or a filler, and a polymerization initiator with a specified composition. SOLUTION: This composite material composition contains a polymerizable unsaturated compound (e.g. an unsaturated polyester resin), a fibrous reinforcement (e.g. glass fibers) and/or a filler (e.g. silica), and a polymerization initiator comprising an organoboron compound represented by the formula (wherein R1 , R2 , R3 and R4 are each alkyl, aryl, allyl, aralkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, silyl, a heterocyclic group, halogeno, etc.; and Z<+> is a cation) (e.g. tetra-n- butylammonium triphenyl-n-butylborate) and an acidic compound (e.g. maleic acid). It is desirable to add a hexaarylbimidazole compound [e.g. bis(2,4,5- triphenyl)imidazole] to the polymerization initiator.</p> |
