PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain silicon fiber having destatisizing and antimicrobial properties. SOLUTION: This silicon fiber 3 comprises a thin silicon film 2 (350Å) of Si or SiOX ((x) is 0<x<2) formed by its vapor deposition on the surface of a polyester-based synthetic fiber 1 by passing the synthetic fiber 1 through a vacuum CVD apparatus into which silane trichloride has been introduced and which is kept heated in vacuo. Otherwise, the silicon fiber 3 may be span out of a synthetic fiber material (e.g. polyester) mixed with silicon (Si or SiOX). |
