ACID NEUTRALIZING AGENT FOR DENTAL PLAQUE AND COMPOSITION FOR ORAL CAVITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for an oral cavity capable of preventing dental caries by neutralizing an acid produced in a dental plaque. SOLUTION: This composition for an oral cavity comprises fine calcium carbonate containing >=50wt.% particles having a size of primary particles as a particle diameter within the range of 0.04-3μm. Since the calcium carbonate having the specific particle diameter is capable of reaching even a narrow site readily causing dental caries and is hardly soluble in water, the calcium carbonate easily stays in a dental plaque. Thereby, the neutralizing reaction is initiated only when an acid is produced in the dental plaque to prevent teeth from being decalcified. Calcium ions are released therefrom to promote the recalcification. The calcium carbonate is blended in an amount of especially preferably 1-30% based on the whole product due to the manifestation of high viscosity characteristics when the blended amount is too large.
