摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the transfer efficiency, and form an image of a high resolution without moire by a method wherein light beams are polarized in the subsidiary scanning direction, and the light beams are scanned on a light-sensitive body while controlling the polarization amount in such a manner that it may periodically change with a plurality of picture elements being continuously arranged in a line in the main scanning direction, as one cycle. SOLUTION: Laser beams 25 are condensed, and then, are polarized in the subsidiary scanning direction by a beam polarizing means comprising of an EOD control circuit 28 and an EOD 27. Then, after being condensed, the laser beams 25 are scanned in the main scanning direction D1 by a polygonal mirror 23 and an f-θlens 24, and are exposed on the surface of a light-sensitive drum 1. Then, a numerous line screen forming unit 40 scans the laser beams 25 on the light-sensitive drum 1 while controlling the laser beams 25 in such a manner that a polarization amount in the subsidiary scanning direction of the laser beams 25 by a beam polarizing means, may change for each main scanning direction, and at the same time, the polarization amount may periodically change with a plurality of main scannings as one cycle. By this method, an electrostatic latent image of a numerous line screen structure, is formed on the light-sensitive drum 1.
