摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the predictive coded image management method and device in which a video is processed into a hierarchical structure at a high speed automatically that is deep structure based on a feature amount reflected on a content with a general-purpose property so as to build up a user interface with a diversified access style. SOLUTION: Predictive coded image data stored in an image data string memory section 101 are read and given to a hierarchical separate section 102, in which the data are separated hierarchically depending on the hierarchy of the data structure. Then the physical characteristic of the image data, that is, the characteristic reflected on the content with general-purpose property is extracted by an image feature extract section 103 from the separated hierarchical layers. Then a characteristic vector generating section 104 generates a characteristic vector characterizing each image from the physical characteristic. Then a distance between the characteristic vectors is calculated and the characteristic vectors are separated/merged by a division integral section 105 to form the video images automatically to be layers with a deep hierarchical structure and a characteristic vector management section 106 stores and manages the images.
