The clamp consists of a body (10) which extends to one side of the cable. It also has an articulated joint (11) with a suspension element (12) and two jaws (13, 14) which grip the cable. One jaw is fixed and carried by the clamp body (10), while the other is moving, is pivoted to the fixed jaw and actuated by a control lever (17). The control lever has a leaf spring (23) which lies in the plane of the clamp and provides the effort which holds the clamp shut on the cable. The leaf spring is anchored rigidly to the body of the clamp at one end, while its other end interacts with the control lever. Alternatively, the leaf spring can be in the shape of a half loop or a coil with two projecting ends connected to the body and control lever. The clamp mechanism can also have two springs.
